An electric longboard, or skateboard, is a regular board kitted with new trucks with belts or inwheel-motors that is driven by a controller and powered by a large battery pack.
Owned boards
Electric longboards
Some of the currently available electric longboards as of 2016:
- Boosted Board
 - Yuneec E-Go
 - Marbel Board
 - MaxFind
 - i-Wonder

Setup
The following is my preference and suggestion for an optimal electric board, with good speed and range, and excellent handling properties.
Complete board
- Range: 20 Km
 - Speed: 20 mph / 32 kph max.
 - Ride height: 10 to 12 cm
 - Weight: 5 to 7 Kg

Deck
- Type: C-type, wheel cutout/exposed
 - Material: flexible reinforced bamboo deck
 - Deck length: 36 to 38 inches / 91 to 97 centimeters

Trucks
- Width: 10 inches / 25.4 centimeters

Speed Controller
- Type: VESC
 - Configuration: Application
 - Driving method: FOV

Wheels
- Type: Orange Polyurethane (PU)
 - Diameter: Ø75 to 80 (BoostedV1 uses Ø75, V2 Ø80)
 - Width: 45 to 50 mm (Boosted 56mm - Orangatang Kegel)
 - Hardness: 85

Motors
- Type: brushless three-phase motors
 - Configuration: dual
 - Rating: 250 to 270kV - higher gives more speed, lower more torque - per voltage
 - Output: 1000 to 2000 Watt
 - Transmission: fiberglass belt

Battery
- Type: Lithium-ion Polymer pack or INR cells
 - Voltage: 36 to 48V - 10S to 13S
 - Capacity: 3000 to 5000 mAh - 110 to 240Wh

Charger
- Type: external battery charger
 - Output: 150W

Remote
- Type: wireless

Custom build
- Deck, front truck and electronics bay compartment from: MaxFind A-max style electric longboard
 - Rear truck, wheels and motors from: L-Faster dual motor rear truck
 - Remote from: Ebay
 - Batteries from: Hobbyking Zippy Compact
