The stock Corona CR8D 8 channel 2.4 GHz receiver weights in at around 10.5 grams. By removing the plastic casing and replacing it with shrink tubing, the weight is reduction substantially.

  • Before: 10.5 grams
  • After: 6.7 grams
  • Reduction: 36%

Size

Modification

The tools needed:

  • Small screw driver - remove case
  • Printer and some paper
  • Transparent heatshrink tubing 16 mm
  • Tweezer
  • Heat gun

Preparation

  1. Print the smaller label and cut out
  2. Cut 43 mm of the heatshrink tube

Perform modification

  1. Put the label between the heatshrink and the receiver
  2. Use the small screw driver to foce the heatshrunk over the connectors
  3. Use the tweezer to align the label
  4. Heat the tubing and watch the aligment of the label

Finish

  1. Test the bind button and make sure it doesn't stick
  2. Perform a range check
  3. Done!
