Review of some Norwegian cereals and muesli. The selection is good and there are a few winners, but you got to watch out for the sugar monster!

Rating: 5/6

Axa Havre Flakes

A basic, wholegrain and crunchy cereal. Large thick flakes. Tasty, but a little added sirup and sugar drags the score down. Works great as a replacement for potato chips or table snack!

Rating: 3/6

Quaker Havre Fras Original

This is a rather puffy cereal. Nothing special. Will soak liquid, so expect a soggy mix.

Rating: 4/6

Vita Hjertego Flerkornsblanding Blåbær og Tranebær

Mixed cereal with fruits, but only 3%. Hard chunks, does not easily soften. Quite a bit of fiber, 18%.

Rating: 1/6

Rimi Right Balance

A rather cheap fruit cereal. Everything is glazed in sugar, bottom rating straight away. An excellent example on how to ruin an otherwise perfect mix.

Rating: 5/6

Coop Müsli Fruit

This is a more classic oats and wheat flakes mix but with crunchy bits of fruit. For once the banana chips are full slices. Good fruits and oats ratio. A bit on the sweet side but it at least provides a fair bit of fruity deliciousness to the table.

Rating: 4/6

Rema 1000 Frukt Müsli

When looking for a real compact müsli, this is it. In addition to the regulars, there is flaxseed, sunflower kernels, corn and bits of raisins and banana. Has to be mixed with other fruits or wheat bran to lighten the chewing resistance. Has great potential.

Rating: 4/6

Vita Hjertego Flerkornsblanding Jordbær og Rosin

Mostly the same as the "Vita Hjertego Flerkornsblanding Blåbær og Tranebær" but with strawberry and raisins. Same issue of ridiculously hard chunks.

Rating: 6/6

Coop Müsli Fibre og Frukt

Almost pure fiber mixed with fruit, can it get any better than this! By incorporating wheat bran into the mix, the balance between the fruit and fiber creates a puffy and light consistency. One of the better available, great price too (20NOK).

Rating: 5/6

Quaker Havre Flakes

Large flakes of whole grained oats, wheat and corn mashed together. Similar to AXA Havre Flakes but thinner. Good but not quite there. Works as a chips replacement!

Rating: 5/6

Quaker Havre Flakes

A well traded name and using only a few ingredients makes this a great choice. A little more sugar(-) and fibre(+) than the oats complements. Perfect for a base to build a great müesli mix.

Rating: 5/6

AXA Grace premium müsli

A delicious mix full of fruit makes this a puffy and balanced müesli. The stated 60% ratio seems right. Great source of minerals and vitamins, no need to mix it up any further.

Rating: 6/6

AXA Glorious premium müsli

Full of nuts and fruits in a reasonable ratio. Bonus points for dates. Similar to its sibling, Grace, it is a great source for the essentials and there is really no need to add any fluid or mix it out, just use it as a snack bag!
