» Server Upgrade

Today, actually this evening, I finally got to upgrade the server hardware for the webserver. It has for a long time been put to work on a regular workstation-ish computer with only a single thread processor and 512 megabytes of memory.
The new server has enough computing power to hold of for another few years I hope. The specs are as followed:
- Dual Intel Xeon 2.4 GHz processors with 533 MHz Front-Side-Bus
- Hyperthreading enabled as of now
- Tyan S2723 Server Motherboard with many interesting features
- Corsair 1 gigabytes of ECC memory
- Twin Onboard Intel Network adapters, 100 MB/s and 1 GB/s.
- EPS 460 Watt Powersupply
I’ve already noticed a decrease in responsiveness while loading PHP pages with many MySQL queries.
Update: Because of sudden changes regarding the cafe, I had to move the webserver to a our office location. The pipe is half the size of the previous one, but still sufficient.

Those are nice specs, but ECC ram is painfully expensive.
